A Quick Update of This Crazy, Unpredictable Year

Last updated on September 18, 2020

Hello everyone! It’s been a hot minute since I sat down and wrote content for my website. Honestly, that’s pretty much how everything has gone in 2020, right? I don’t think I even need to go into detail on how much it seems the universe is laughing at us all. The struggle is REAL. However, I want to take some time to update you all on what is going on in my writing life, and say 5 things I am eternally grateful for.

I highly suggest writing 3-5 things you are grateful for every single day. It has become my saving grace and really helps to boost positivity. As one of my favorite characters in my upcoming novel likes to say, our happiness is the only thing we are in control of. 🙂

Reading and Writing Updates as of September 2020

  • I got edits back from Enchanted Ink Publishing! Natalia Leigh has been amazing to work with, and I am excited for all the improvements to my novel I now have in mind. I have my fingers crossed that once I have these big changes made, I can get a round of edits out to beta readers by mid-November. At first, the plan was to do a round in September, but I am changing a lot—all for the better!
  • Two of the children’s picture books I have written are in the querying process… So, now I wait.
  • All things FALL: that is where my head is at right now. With every book I read, page I edit, or word I write, there is pumpkin spice (likely chai) in my hand.
  • I launched a new website! Dinos and Discovery is my new blog baby. I have always loved blogging, running a few different sites in the past, and this one is my newest addition. It focuses on learning at home and adventuring as a family, and I am loving every minute of building it up.
  • I am trying to stay more up to date and educated with authortubers! If you are a writer and have a YouTube channel, let me know!
  • Top read this year: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. Romance PLUS mathematical nerdiness? I could relate a little too much.

5 Things I am Grateful For

  1. My sweet, sweet baby boy. Admittedly, he is not really a baby anymore, but he will always be my baby. He is absolutely hilarious, and my heart is so full being able to be with him every day.
  2. My husband! I have no idea how I would juggle writing a book, trying to figure out a publishing route, launching a blog, learning a bunch of graphic design stuff, and starting to homeschool our preschooler if I did not have his complete support. I don’t even juggle it that well with it, frankly. Lol nevermind maintaining our new house. We make an excellent team, and he has worked from home for the past several months—it has been crazyyyy, but the BEST.
  3. All of my family and friends. My sister recently could (safely) visit us from out of state, and it was the first time seeing her since last year. COVID has kept us from seeing relatives nearby as frequently, and those faraway even less, but it really makes me cherish those moments together that much more! Perspective!
  4. Health. I am beyond thankful that my loved ones and I are safe and healthy, and I pray that it stays that way. It really is the most important thing.
  5. Books. When you cannot travel to far-off places, or physically leave difficult times behind, books are a haven. An escape. Anything is possible when you read that first page, and I am grateful for a world filled with so. Many. Books. You can go anywhere 🙂 I hope one day that my novel series will act as a getaway for someone. That sentiment keeps me going.
My world.

Much love! I hope you are staying well.
